PRESIDENTS DAY HITTING CAMP
The Presidents Day Holiday Hitting Camp attracted over 60 youth and high school players from the area. This one day camp to be held yearly focus on several key components of hitting fundamentals. The two hour program was of high intensity instruction and loaded with a high volume of swings for each camper.

HitStreak staffer Scott Vatter, a UNC alum and veteran of the Pioneer League of professional baseball, worked with hitters on driving the ball to the opposite field in the large hitting cage. Campers were able to see the ball travel in the large cage to view the results of their efforts...ONLY DONE AT HITSTREAK!

In the other big cage, Mariners scout Al Bleser, another HitStreak staffer, worked on the short game of bunting. Bunters executed push and drag bunts by seeing the ball travel down the baselines into target containers...ONLY AVAILABLE AT HITSTREAK!

In multiple tunnel cages, HitStreak staffers including former Brewer Jeff Knabenshue, worked on the specifics of the lower half of the body as well as the upper half over several stations, culminating with the PRO-BATTER. Here the campers faced Major League pitching geared to their level of competition...AVAILABLE ONLY AT HITSTREAK!

21st PRO-SHOWCASE WEEKEND
Over 130 of the Colorado's top high school baseball players participated in HitStreak's 21st annual January event.

In Friday night's position player showcase, 65 of the top position players in the state were worked out infront of scouts from 23 major league teams and numerous colleges. Among the evaluators was Jim Walton, long time scout with the Major League Scouting Bureau, who evaluates players for all 30 Major League teams.

The prospects were timed in the 30 and 40 yard dash to evaluate running speed, then hit ground balls to evaluate defensive skills and arm strength. The final evaluation took place in the cages with players taking 15-20 swings as scouts looked on.

Saturday, 100+ pitchers threw for over 60 scouts and college recruiters, making this HitStreak event the most attended annual event in Colorado. Scouts from as far away as Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arizona and California attended the event, with the Mariners bringing in three scouts to evaluate talent.

AYL CLINIC
The Inaugural Winter Holiday Clinics held in December at HitStreak were attended by over 120 youth league players from the area. Participants were given professional instruction over the three day sessions in four 30 minute stations, including speed and strength training from HitStreak staffer and former Brewer Jeff Knabenshue.

Braves scout Scott Vatter and Hastings College alum Brian Bonn took campers through the defensive station working on basic glove skills and actions, in addition to double play skills and advanced "web gems" needed for making the tough plays.

Rockies outfielder Chris Frey and HitStreak staffers Marcus Quade and Danny Sheridan conducted hitting drills on the tees, short screen directional hitting and short batting practice. Rockies lefty Sean Thompson and Mariners Al Bleser rounded out the sessions with pitching work for all campers working off of mounds to focus on mechanics, defensive skills and pick off work.

These camps will be offered in the summer in an outdoor setting to include more team oriented offerings in addition individual position work. LOOK ON THE HITSTREAK WEBSITE FOR OUR SUMMER SESSIONS SOON!

Pitchers Seminar
:
HitStreak hosted another successful clinic featuring Major League players talking pitching to Colorado talent. Former Rockie righthander Roger Bailey discussed the role of proper training at an early age to learn mechanics, command and mastery of the change up.
Braves Major League Alum Gary Neibauer and Bruce Vaughn of the University of Northern Colorado worked one-on-one with each camper for 25 minutes on their mechanics in side session bull pens. Creighton/University of Maine's Ryan Forrest talked control of the running game and pick off moves, while Mariners scout Al Bleser work on pitchers fielding skills to round out the evenings work. All campers were seen in a working environment with many repetitions in each station on the night.

College play and earning scholarship opportunities was a key for all the instructors who represented Florida State, Nebraska, Northern Colorado, Creighton and CSU-Pueblo, before their careers in professional baseball.

HitStreak will be offering more baseball training opportunities in the coming months for area players!

Hitters College: Saturday evening's Hitters College was a full/capacity event with Major League catcher and Cherry Creek Alum Josh Bard talking about the keys to hitting success, switch hitting and what it takes to get to the next level in baseball.

Clinic participants worked on bunting skills with Astros farmhand Chris Jackson and the Phillies' Matt Mc Connell. Hitting stations focusing on switching hitting skills, hitting to all fields and bat speed improvement were led by former Mets outfielder Don Parker and Red Sox catcher Pat Perry. The "basehit game" with focus on line drive production and pitch selection rounded out the evening with Mariners scout Al Bleser. In all, hitters attending took over 150 swings under the watchful eyes of instructors from professional baseball, and Hit Streak staffers Marcus Quade and Matt Darr.

The first time event held at Hit Streak will continue to be offered as an annual if not seasonal event. Future events are being booked with former Rockies Juan Pierre and Clint Hurdle included in the guest instructor list.
